The Crocodile Hunter
De bekende Australisch dierentuinhouder en presentator is op 4 september 2006 tijdens het duiken door een pijlstaartrog in zijn hart gestoken en overleden.Rond het jaar 2000 verscheen hij veelvuldig op de televisiezender Discovery Channel met het programma "Crocodile Hunter".
Irwin was eigenaar van de Australische dierentuin Australia Zoo die door zijn ouders is opgezet. In Nederland heeft hij wat meer bekendheid geworven middels reclamespotjes voor een telecom-winkelketen. In Australië werd hij soms als een overenthousiaste gek gezien, helemaal toen hij in opspraak kwam omdat hij tijdens een van zijn shows in de dierentuin met een krokodil zijn destijds paar maanden oude zoontje onder zijn arm hield.
Bedankt voor je spectaculaire programma's waarbij je soms wel het noodlot erg tartte.

A great guy died much too soon.

OMG! This is so sad! How is it even posible to die like that? I mean that animal must have really not liked him. Poor Steve. But at least he died doing what he loved, that's the best way to die, right? I'll miss you mister Irwin!

I've been to Australia Zoo 3 years ago, but have not seen Steve. And I never will see him...

Being bitten, scratchted, spit at by a cobra etc. was part of the job Steve loved to do, because of his love for the animals.
Sadly this time it happen to fast and taken before his time during the one thing he loved to do most working with the animals.
"Crickey" you will be missed.

My sincere condoleaces to Steve's family. Im still quite shocked by his dead. Nature lost one of it's biggest protectors. I hope his family can bare this loss and that in dew time they can go on with their lifes. Terri, Bindi and Bob my thoughts are with you. Steve was just a great guy. It was always special to me that Steve and I shared the same birhtday on Februari 22nd. Steve rest in peace you went in style!
